Options for Care are currently looking to recruit Mental Health Nurses across our two units based in Birmingham – Montague Court and Dartmouth House.

  • Montague Court is an 18 bed male long term complex care mental health inpatient unit based in Edgbaston, Birmingham
  • Dartmouth House is a 16 bed male long term complex care mental health inpatient unit based in Handsworth Wood, Birmingham

As an organisation we have been through a significant period of quality improvement and service development. This has culminated in an Outstanding CQC rating for Montague Court. We work with service users to support them in their progression along their recovery pathway using relationship-centred, best practice interventions, supporting individuals to improve their quality of life whilst working towards their personal goals. Service user outcomes are measured using recognized assessment tools which allow us to evidence our objective of enabling individuals to move towards living in the least restrictive setting possible.

Healthcare Assistant

Salary: starting at £8.25 per hour (+ night/weekend enhancements)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (rotating pattern of day and night shifts)

Job Description Overview

  • Assisting and assessing individuals with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, medication, bed making, budget management and preparing meals and drinks.
  • Promoting the physical health and wellbeing of service users, through support and education.
  • Maintain a safe environment, free from unnecessary hazards.
  • Enable individuals to achieve independence as far as possible in all areas of their life.
  • Understand the rights of the individual to have their wishes respected.

Individual Essential Criteria

  • You must have some experience of working within a care setting.
  • You must have the right to work within the UK.
  • You must be able to communicate effectively and have the ability to understand and be understood – verbal and written.
  • You need to be 100% committed to helping improve the quality of life of vulnerable adults.
  • You must have a kind and caring nature.
  • You must have completed NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.
  • An enhanced DBS check will be required.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of working within mental health services
  • Direct experience of mental health services
  • Completion of a NVQ Level 3 or higher in Health and Social Care-related subjects
  • Willingness to develop oneself and take on extended roles and responsibilities (with associated rewards)

Support Worker

Options for Care are recruiting Support Workers to join an innovative new service based in Erdington, B24. Orchard House is a 6-bed Mental Health Community Recovery Home for men. It provides people with proactive and time limited continued rehabilitation services. It is flexible enough to meet individual needs and focuses upon assisting recovery. The goal being to support people into further independence within the community following discharge from a hospital setting.

The service builds upon the recovery work already undertaken by individuals in hospital settings and supports a recovery programme which assists individuals in managing symptoms and their mental and physical health and wellbeing. Service users are encouraged to engage in a range of activities to continue to develop Activities of Daily Living, focusing on budgeting, food hygiene, nutrition, self-care, medication management and housekeeping whilst further developing social links and activities. Developing positive habits and socialising within the community is essential to support the individual in working towards their individual goals.

Location:             Orchard House, 95-97 Holly Lane, Erdington, Birmingham B24 9JP

Salary:                  £8.25 per hour (+ night/weekend enhancements)

Hours:                  37.5 per week (rotating pattern of long days/night shifts and sleep-in’s) – pattern to be confirmed

    • Promote a range of social and community activities, which promote healthy habits, lifestyles and networks, including access to adult education, voluntary work and employment.
    • Continued support and development of self-management skills such as personal hygiene, time management and domestic skills including budgeting, shopping and cooking.
    • Support the person to manage their own medication in a safe and supported environment.
    • Support the person to develop coping strategies and manage ongoing symptoms.
    • Promote and monitor individual recovery programmes.
